Some links to sites with current weather information, data, and images. Also includes information on hurricanes and FAQ's from the hurricane research division of NOAA. This page is to help inform those who paddle the area as much as possible about the multitude of weather conditions we have along the gulf coast from extreme heat, to freezing rain, from calm breezes to hurricanes.

• The NOAA National Weather Site - Check out this site for current weather conditions in a preferred area (interactive)

• Latest NOAA Weather Map for tracking most recent activity in Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean - Satellite gif of current weather conditions over the US, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean

• National Weather Service - NOAA Weather Data. Includes Surface Observations, Surface Observation Interactive Map, Marine Observation Interactive Map, Sea Surface Temperatures (Gulf/Atlantic), buoy locations, etc.

• Sun or Moon Rise/Set Table for One year - You put in the date and place, this table gives you back either the sunrise time or sunset time for that day.

• The Palm Beach Post - Hurricane '98 A good web site with updates on hurricanes and tracking chart presented by the Palm Beach Post

• Palm Beach Interactive - Hurricane Central, Palm Beach Weather, National & Regional Weather, The World, etc.

• Florida Statewide City Forecasts in RealAudio Hear the latest weather forecasts updated 4 times daily.

• Tampa Tribune - Another good web site with the latest weather updates - Florida and National. Information and links for severe weather and provides satellite photo. Lots of good graphics.

• Weather.com - a site for U.S. City and International forecasts with maps and travel conditions.

  

• Tropical weather information including Atlantic Seasonal Hurricane Forecast - Includes a complete presentation of Professor William Gray's (et.al) current predictions on the hurricane season. Professor Gray, of Colorado State University, is nationally recognized for his work with NOAA's Hurricane Research Division. Also includes FAQ on hurricanes, typhoons and tropical cyclones... What's the largest on record? What's the smallest? Which did the most damage? (Part II has links to some sites with nice graphics). You can find just about all you wanted to know about hurricanes here.

• Southeast Regional Climate Center - Along with a lot of other information, this page provides statistics for lightning injuries and fatalities for AL, FL, GA, NC, SC, VA. Boating is in the top ten places where people are killed by lightning. Take the SRCC test and find out what you know or don't know about the weather.
